Canvas Network News: We're Feeling Presidential (Q4)

Here's a fun presidential fact: Woodrow Wilson (1913-1921), who didn't learn to read until he was 10 years old, was our most educated president. He is the only US president to have earned his PhD.

You know what else is pretty cool? The courses we've been offering at canvas.net on the presidential election process. Do your civic duty and check 'em out!

  • FIRST! Understanding New Hampshire's Presidential Primary (University of New Hampshire)
It's been 100 years since New Hampshire held its first presidential primary, and the story of this preeminent political contest is packed with colorful personalities and interesting anecdotes. In this course you'll learn about the history of the presidential nomination process, the role New Hampshire plays in the media's coverage of elections and how the state is often a proving ground for unknown candidates and fledgling political operatives.
  • Iowa Presidential Caucuses (Iowa State University)
It happens every four years. Iowa voters meet in churches, schools, even living rooms, to be part of the first-in-the-nation stop for US presidential hopefuls. The Iowa Caucuses have helped launch and end the aspirations of many candidates. This initial test in the presidential selection process will be the focus of a new massive open online course (MOOC) at Iowa State University, the Iowa Presidential Caucuses.
