If you already registered as an early bird, but weren’t able to sign up for the pre-conference workshops you wanted, check the workshop schedule again—because we’ve added more sessions. The full InstCon session schedule is coming soon.

And, as always, watch for us at events throughout the country this spring.

When people say “there’s no time like the present,” they mean it’s better to do something now than to put it off until later (or it might never get done). If you’re ready to get things done, here are a few courses to help you get started.

Wrapping Up The School Year in Canvas

Congratulations! You’ve almost made it to the end of another school year. Are you ready to pack up your classroom for the summer and to begin preparing for next year? You may be asking yourself, “What do I do with Canvas now that the school year is over?” For answers, check out this CanvasLIVE session by Cortny Lyon.

Gamify Your Courses With Canvabadges

As you start preparing for next year, think about using Canvabadges to gamify your courses and to motivate students. You can award badges based on completion of modules or final grades. Compatible with Mozilla OpenBadges, Canvabadges are added as module items in Canvas, and must be configured by the instructor before students can earn them. Additionally, you can add a manual approval step that requires instructor sign-off before badges are awarded.

The InstructureCon Unconference

On Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., InstructureCon will hold its very first unconference (InstCon UnCon). An unconference is a place where participants decide the curriculum for the day, network with other conference attendees, and share ideas spontaneously, spur-of-the-moment, and off-the-cuff.

Who Should Attend the Unconference?

      • Anyone registered for InstructureCon 2015. Unconferences are usually free, so anyone who wants to arrive early for the main conference is welcome.
      • Anyone who sometimes finds themselves thinking “I wish they had covered X,Y, Z more deeply” in regular conference sessions, and wishes they had the chance to ask further questions or expand on that content themselves.
      • Anyone who wants to engage more deeply in the conversations that are sure to abound at InstructureCon 2015.
      • Anyone who likes interacting with colleagues to expand on ideas, share techniques and models, and debate current trends.

This event is open and free of charge to all InstructureCon attendees. To participate, simply enroll in the InstCon UnCon Canvas course and plan to attend in person on June 16. You’ll find all the information you need right in the Canvas course. So, join the InstructureCon Unconference today and let’s get focused on student-centered learning.
