Coming Soon: Week in Review

In December, our K-12 and Higher Ed Priority Service teams will launch Week in Review updates within the Canvas Community. In contrast to Canvas Connection (what you’re reading right now), which provides a monthly overview of all things Canvas, the Week in Review will drill down into the daily life of a Canvas Admin. So, you can get timely updates about webinars, new LTI tools, or other bite-sized bits of info to help you save the day.

What We’re Grateful for this Thanksgiving:

    • New features and bug fixes, like Conferences, differentiated assignments, and Grades Summary, just to name a few
    • The new Canvas Community where we can all learn and connect
    • The recent announcement about the new location for InstructureCon 2016
    • YOU! So many schools have expanded their use of Canvas this year, and we’re grateful to be part of all you do

Autumn colors are blazing and the nights are getting chilly. It’s time to grab your favorite sweater, light a fire in the fireplace, and heat up a mug of hot cocoa. While you’re curled up in your favorite easy chair, direct your browser to and warm up your brain with some serious online learning.

If you have a great idea for an open, online course, submit a proposal to Canvas Network for 2016. We’re looking for unique and engaging course topics taught by creative instructors like you. So, visit Canvas Network to learn more and submit the form to let us know you’re interested.

This month, our Canvas K-12 team is thankful for great Canvas Admins doing awesome things to make a difference in the lives of teachers and students. For example:

    • Jeff Faust (Charlottesville, VA) developed teacher spotlight reports to give school admins a tool to help with change of practice. Spotlight reports enable sub-account admins to query a teacher and to look at student activity in specific courses during a specific timeframe. This data is being used in teacher observation and in conferences between teachers and administrators.
    • Forney ISD created a video featuring CLiCK, their “spokesbot.” And check out this bonus video from Forney geared toward parents. Promotional videos like these have been a key component in many districts’ successful marketing efforts.

Also, take a few minutes to learn more about these awesome Canvas tools that can help make your Canvas experience even more awesome.

    • As the name of the service more than suggests, Canvas Data provides data about your Canvas instance. Read the blog for more info about why we provide daily Canvas Data files for free.
    • Canvas Catalog enables better facilitation of enrollments, management, and payment for professional development, summer school, and credit recovery courses. For more info visit the Canvas Catalog website.
