Rationale

K12 1:1 programs often require that students consume all course content on either a provided device or a device students bring from home.  The most popular provided device is the iPad.

Currently, the Canvas quiz-taking experience on a mobile device is not great because it’s a webview within the app. User's usually need to log in again to access a quiz, and when they do, they find tiny text (because the Canvas quiz view is not mobile-optimized) and a text editor that is not fully mobile-friendly.

User goals

As a student:

  • I can access a quiz in the mobile app natively
  • I don't have to enter my login credentials again to open a quiz
  • I see quizzes formatted in a mobile-friendly way
  • I get a mobile-friendly text editor to use to complete questions that require text-entry

Timeline
We're planning to make this available in the iOS and Android Canvas apps in Q3 of 2015.
