What do the different role icons represent?

You may have noticed that certain members in the Canvas Community have an icon next to their names. Read on to learn what each one means.


Employee Roles

Pandas represent Instructure employees. Read on to learn about the different color designations.


  • RED PANDA: Members of the Community Team
    The Community Team designs, moderates and manages all-the-things in the Canvas Community. They strive to make your community experience successful and worthwhile! (They're basically everywhere, but not in a creepy way.)

  • GRAY PANDA: Instructure employees
    These are all the amazing Instructure peeps who make the magic happen with Canvas. From your Sales rep to your Customer Success Manager to your Implementation Consultant, you can connect with them in the community.

  • PURPLE PANDA: Canvas Product Team
    Yes, they are Instructure employees, too. But they have a special designation in the community because of their involvement and interactions in the Canvas Studio.

  • BLUE PANDA: Canvas Training Team
    Our Canvas Trainers also have a presence in the community in the Canvas Training space. But you'll often see these experts out-and-about in the community answering questions, doing free demos in CanvasLIVE, and helping design #CanvasTrivia questions.


Community Roles

These icons represent non-Instructure employees who have a significant role in the community.



  • RED 'C': Canvas Coach
    Canvas Coaches are your "Canvas Champions" or "Community Concierges". They address anything related to Canvas and Community. You'll often find them answering questions in Find Answers and engaging in various discussions throughout the community.

  • GRAY 'C': Canvassador
    Canvas Canvassadors are advocates for Canvas. They attend regional industry events and conferences, sharing their stories and experiences about Canvas. They also spread their Canvas love through blogs, social media, and the Canvas community.

  • ORANGE FLAME: Canvas Community Luminary
    These users are 'experts' in one or more areas of Canvas. Through their insights and contributions in the community, they have surfaced as someone who sheds light on various aspects of Canvas and its products. Their feedback often provide the spark users need to take their Canvas adoption to the next level.


If you see any of these folks in the community, be sure to say 'hi' or follow them!
