In this Commons release (February 9), the Search Page interface has been updated. Additionally, deleting a resource generates a confirmation message and search results have improved accessibility. Last, recently used tags will no longer appear when tags are added to resources.
For Canvas users, to have Commons enabled in your Canvas account, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
The Commons Search Page interface has been updated to better meet user preferences. These updates include font changes to the navigation menu. The Learn More link has been replaced with a Help icon, which directs users to the Commons Guides.
Additionally, a Canvas Commons logo appears as part of the navigation menu, which is visible on any page in Commons. If users are on the search page, they can click this logo to clear the search and begin a new one. From other pages in Commons, clicking the logo will return users to the search page.
The search bar has been updated to better meet user search preferences. The Subject and Shared With filters have been removed. Resources can be sorted by type and grade, and can be filtered by Most Relevant, Latest, or Highest Rated resources. Selected filters will appear below the search bar and can be dismissed by clicking the remove icon. Users can also select whether to view Public Resources and can see the number of resources that match the search criteria below the search bar.
My Shared Resources
On the My Shared Resources page, deleting a resource generates a confirmation message. Users can choose not to be warned for the rest of their browser session by clicking the Don't warn me again checkbox. However, they will have to confirm deletion in future sessions.
To improve page accessibility, the results page has been paginated to only display the first 48 search results. More resources can be viewed by clicking the Load more results link.
When sharing a resource, users will no longer see a list of suggested or recently used tags when adding tags to a resource.
