Let's face it, badges are awesome. And awarding badges to students who complete online learning objectives in your Canvas courses is even more awesome! But without leveraging sound instructional design strategies or implementing strong conventions for awarding and tracking student progress, badges are just distracting digital swag. In this hands-on interactive course, discover the meaning of 'badging with purpose' and learn ways to effectively integrate badges to reinforce learning.

In this course, participants will:

  1. Discuss badges as an instructional strategy in your courses.
  2. Share ideas for adoption of a badging system in current educational practices.
  3. Present setup procedures for multiple badging systems from creation, to student awarding and tracking.

* This course is an enhanced, revised version of Badges for Learning (Fall-2015).
