Chris and Kim Munzo from AspirEDU will lead a panel discussion with representatives of three schools (spanning the K12 and higher ed space) to discuss how the use of early identification of at-risk students has contributed to their student retention and student support services.
Panel Members
Allison O’Grady (ABJ in Advertising, University of Georgia; BS in Psychology, University of Georgia; MA in Higher Education, University of Denver) currently works as an Instructional Support Specialist on the Academic Quality Development team at University College. In this position, Allison assists faculty with course design and assessment measures, implements new technology into UCOL courses, trains faculty in the use of instructional design strategies, and contributes to strategic planning initiatives to enhance academic quality at University College. As a Canvas administrator at the University of Denver, Allison helped oversee the adoption of Canvas at the University of Denver and regularly investigates new ways to use the LMS to deliver a quality experience. Allison has also served as an Adjunct faculty member at University College for the past 3 years in the Bachelor of Arts Completion, Communication Management, and Healthcare Leadership programs.
Chris Ryals is the Mississippi Community College Board’s Program Specialist for eLearning. He is responsible for technical support of the Mississippi Virtual Community College’s Enrollment System and he serves as Canvas Admin for the state consortium. He is formerly a Drafting and Design Technology Instructor at East Central Community College and has worked with various organizations in promoting the use of instructional technologies. His pedagogy includes various online and mobile learning technologies. He has an AAS degree in Drafting and Design Technology from ECCC, a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering Technology and Business with an Emphasis in Land Surveying and a Master of Science in Engineering Technology from Mississippi State University. He is also a licensed Professional Land Surveyor with the State of Mississippi.
Nick Sun is in his 6th year with Dalton Public School in Dalton, Georgia. He began as a math lab coordinator at Dalton High School. He quickly became a math teacher for 9th -12th grade. He developed into the Math Coach of the department where he used several digital tools and platforms with teachers and students. He moved to central office as the Director of School Support and Director of Instructional Technology and Integration. Nick loves helping teachers and seeing great "aha" moments in both teachers and students. He has helped developed Canvas roll-out and support in his districts as well been a part of Dropout Detective training sessions.
Special Guests
Kellie Erwin is the Technology Integration Specialist for Dalton Public Schools. This is her 9th year of assisting teachers and school systems with the integration of technology-based projects. The best part of her job is getting to help teachers and students try something new.
