I have just posted an idea for Combating contract cheating. I would like instructure to consider using Stylometry tools to give a degree of confidence that a piece of work submitted belongs to the person submitting. I would be grateful for your support in voting for this. Thank you.
Contract cheating is a form of academic dishonesty in which students get others to complete their coursework for them. This is a growing problem and ranges from the informal, such as the student asking a relative to complete their work, to formally organised cheating though the use of sophisticated tendering sites. Such bespoke writing will…(Show moreShow less)
Copy questions within same question bank Many Canvas users feel that this simple development could vastly improve the Canvas quiz/question bank experience! Please vote for this and thank you in advance
We're planning to include online participation measures in Analytics 2, and need your input on how we define participation and why tracking participation matters. Please join in the open-ended discussion here, or jump straight into our survey. Why should we measure learner participation? Here are some reasons we've heard: So teachers can…(Show moreShow less)
On Monday 22nd January, we hosted the UK HE Product update meeting with our International Product Manager, Sidharth Oberoi. Sidh gave us an update on the UK HE’s Top 10 feature priorities list as determined by the UK HE user group. A copy of the recording can be found below, for those of you that weren't able to attend. bhttps://instructure.webex.com/instructure/ldr.php...
We are an Australian medical college and we have hundreds, if not thousands of images to add into Canvas LMS. We have noticed when adding in images into a course, we are presented with a flat file structure within the WYSIWYG for images with thumbnails. This is very useful if you have only a few images per course, but many of our courses…(Show moreShow less)
Hello qualitative assessors!!! We're excited to have you take a look at our designs and provide us with some feedback. For this exercise we ask that you carefully look at the workflow of each process and let us know what you think. Here's a few questions to get you thinking down that path: Is the User Interface (UI) clear? Are the…(Show moreShow less)
Copy Group content etc I asked Sidh Oberoi at the user group meeting in October about the fact that
there is currently no way to copy group sets and group page content over when copying from past courses etc (something requested by community back in 2015)
there are only complicated work arounds ( e.g. create group shells in a new course before copy over course content and group assignment) etc- all manual and time consuming – see Copy Group Settings
The new blueprint (master and children option) does not copy group set ups or content either.
As a result any institution that relies on group work has to create x nos of separate groups, and the MANUALLY (re)create all the content in EACH one and manually add students to them (if self-enrol or csv file not an option) – all very time-consuming. Surely it can be simplified as a clone function… My wish list re groups is the ability to create content etc in one group and then be able to copy it in ONE go to other groups in that set the ability to copy group set ups and ALL group content to another course i.e. the option to clone within a course and copy set ups across different courses would be the perfect solution
After Funmi told us that group copying etc is not a priority anytime soon I followed up and got this reply form Sidh
I do recall our conversation in terms of the necessity to be able to copy group sets and group page content from past courses to new courses and the frustration around the current implementation. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you associated with this, however, I do ensure you that this has been discussed and I had actually provided that response to Funmi.
I have discussed your wishlist the Product Manager over Blueprint Courses as well as the development teams, and the hope has been to include this initiative with future efforts around development associated with Blueprint Courses. It just has not been prioritized for the immediate future.
As you know, we have multiple development efforts going on across the organization that we have prioritized and our efforts are concentrated around those. We certainly do believe that this effort could be beneficial to a host of institutions globally, but unfortunately hasn't gained much traction. ...
We certainly want to work to meet the needs that you and your institution requires, it is just a matter of prioritization. A mechanism for escalating prioritization may be to work with your colleagues in the UK and escalate it to make it a featured request from the UK HE advisory group. Garnering additional support for this initiative from a larger number of institutions will help escalate the priority.
I hope this helps provide greater insight into the situation. I'm happy to answer any other questions you may have regarding this matter.
We ask groups to record and post a video presentation in Canvas for ther groups to review , ask questions and give feedback. The interaction between groups is essential and is also graded. For now it is not possilbe to allocate Peer Review to groups - only individuals. This means complicated and time consuming work arounds. Please can we…(Show moreShow less)
