With the Find A User search:

-if a user has more than two names and a person searches for a user's first and last name without the middle name(s) then no results are returned

for example, searching "Steve Smith" does not return "Steve Simon Smith"

-if a person searches for a shorter name than the name of the user then no results are returned

for example, searching "Steve Smith" does not return "Steven Smith"

-if a person searches with extra spaces before, after, or between names then no results are returned

for example, searching "Smith " or " Smith" does not return "Smith" or searching "Steve  Smith" does not return "Steve Smith"

Canvas Support verified that the results described above are the intended functionality of the Find a User search.

The Feature Idea is that the Find a User search returns relevant results:

-if a user has more than two names and a person searches for a user's first and last name without the middle name(s) for example, searching "Steve Smith" returns "Steve Simon Smith"

-if a person searches for a shorter name than the name of the user

for example, searching "Steve Smith" returns "Steven Smith"

-if a person searches with extra spaces before, after, or between names

for example, searching "Smith " or " Smith" returns "Smith" or searching "Steve  Smith" returns "Steve Smith"
