While in the "Videos in the Classroom: Unexpected Ways to Use Videos" yesterday, we were shown how you can upload a video and choose the CC language. My colleague and I were discussing this and she brought up a great point, the following idea:
Rather than the teacher determining the CC language, and only having one per video (thus meaning you'd have to have multiple videos in different languages) allowing the student to choose the language. This can be done by the teacher choosing the languages needed (as they can do now) but being able to choose multiple at a time. For instance, if in my classroom I needed CC in Spanish, Haitian-Creole and Vietnamese, I would check those during the upload process. Then I would correct the CC in English so that the languages translate correctly. So now instead of having four of the same videos (one in English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole and Vietnamese) it would just be one and the students would choose their language from a drop down menu.
