When building course content, it would be nice to be able to filter out pages that are already published. Then, when a module/assignment/quiz/etc is built, it can be published and filtered out of view.
Thank you for submitting this idea, Eric Daniels (and a somewhat belated) Welcome to the Canvas Community! We have some questions for you. Are you proposing a published/unpublished filter on the Modules page for all content that has been inserted into modules (and for the modules themselves)? Or are you looking for filters on the pages that correspond to the tabs in the navigation (e.g. "On the Pages page, provide a Published/Unpublished filter"; "On the Quizzes page, provide a Published/Unpublished filter"; and so forth).
We're looking forward to your feedback.
Hi Stefanie! Thanks for the welcome. Boy, you guys are speedy.
I was imagining having the filter on the Modules page, but I would leave it up to the developers to come up with the solution they think is best. The desired end result would be to be able to filter unpublished pages/modules on any page (modules, assignments, quizzes, etc).
Example: I click on "Quizzes". I am presented with a list of 15 quizzes that I have created, but some do not yet have content. I have added content to 5 of the 15 and as a last step in the process, I have published them. So it would be nice if the already published quizzes would disappear from the list. I click a "Filter" option at the top of the Quizzes page and am presented with a series of check boxes. If I uncheck "published", all published items will disappear from the list.
Hope that helps? Thanks again for reaching out!
We appreciate this clarification, Eric. We do want to keep ideas singular and focused, so for now, let's keep the idea centered on being able to filter items by published/unpublished during the Add-to-Module process. Would you edit the title and description of the idea to reflect that? Those additional details will help the community to better assess the idea. Thanks!
