Students need a larger comment box! When they are adding comments to another students paper the comment box only allows for a couple of lines to be seen so it is difficult to know what they have written previously.
Thank you for submitting this idea, Natalie Tews and Welcome to the Canvas Community! Are you referring to students posting comments in peer reviews, and specifically to the interface depicted in How do I submit a peer review to an assignment? (under Add Assignment Comment)? If so, students can resize the Add a Comment box by dragging the bottom right corner to make more of its contents visible.
We've put this idea into Moderating mode to give you and your students an opportunity to investigate the existing solution.
I agree with this suggestion. When grading, the user has to resize the comment box each time. The default size is so small that by the end of the first sentence of comments, part of the text is hidden. The default size needs to be larger.
John, from the grader's standpoint, dragging the center bar of the SpeedGrader to the left makes the Add a Comment box commensurately larger, and that setting persists throughout the SpeedGrader navigation for that particular assignment. Have your graders tried that?
Thanks for your suggestion. Dragging the center bar does change the dimensions of the Assignment Comments box. I'm talking about the Additional Comments box on the left. Dragging the center bar has no effect on the size of the Additional Comments box:
center bar on right:
center bar in center:
After I drag to enlarge the Additional Comments box for one question, that setting does not persist for subsequent questions.
John, am I correct that the Additional Comments boxes that appear in your screenshot are part of quizzes? The display of quiz results and the accompanying comment boxes are very different for quizzes administered using the new Quizzes LTI (the grader will click on a comment bubble to launch a large text editor titled "Additional Comments"), so I would encourage you to explore the resources available in Quizzes.Next User Group.
Yes, that's correct. I'll check with my local Canvas support about the Quizzes LTI.
