I recently gave an online exam with a 50 minute time limit. A total of 23 of the 29 students had exact number of minutes listed: 44 minutes, 32 minutes, and so forth. Six of the 29 students had "finished in about 1 hour." This wording is problematic because the time limit was 50 minutes. I suggest that the time limit be listed for all students.
With the help of tech support in Chat, I was able to find out the exact number of minutes for the six students, all 50 minutes or less. While this solved my major issue, seeing the "finished in about 1 hour" has to be problematic for other instructors. I checked the time for all the students using Mitchell B's directions for "Speed Grader," which was new for me. The six students ranged from 45 to 50 minutes; however, none was over 50 minutes so the auto-submit worked. I am concerned, though, that the wording mentioned is not accurate and should be deleted in favor of specific times for all students.
