When files submitted for an assignment are bulk downloaded, the file names are altered in two ways: An identifier and unique code is prepended, and (if multiple versions were submitted) a hyphen and version number are appended. For example, my_project_file.mlx may become

       studenttest_5430210_68314373_my_project_file-2.mlx

This can break students' code in computer programming assignments, if their code spans multiple files that refer to the specific file names. Furthermore, the hyphenation can actually render a single file unusable (e.g. in MATLAB).
