Dashboard images have two major issues:
- They are not auto-cropped or compressed in any way, keeping the original file as is.
- Images not from flickr, are not cached ever, reloading every time the Dashboard loads.
The result of this is a major inefficiency in Dashboard page loading. I suspect this is no better on the mobile.
This means that a page that should only be a 1-2MB, can easily be 5-50MB, and because the browser isn’t cashing this, its downloading these images every time.
My idea – compress the dashboard images once uploaded, and allow for all images to be cached by the browser.
