Course Navigation for Syllabus Events

In courses using calendar events, where the home page is set to the Syllabus, clicking on an Event from the Syllabus page moves the user out of the course-level navigation context and into the global navigation context. This causes the course level navigation bar to disappear. (A note that this does not occur when clicking on an Assignment from the syllabus page, which keeps users in the course level navigation context.) This navigation configuration is not consistent and is confusing our users.

When we spoke to Instructure, they confirmed no configurable settings exist to change this behavior.

Ideally for our use case, clicking on an Event from the Syllabus page would keep users in the course level navigation context, where the navigation bar remains present.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1.    In a course using calendar events, where the home page is set to the syllabus, click on an Event from the Syllabus page
    2.    Observe that the page redirects to the global navigation context, where the navigation bar disappears
