Restrict students from creating a conference. This is to minimize students inadvertently creating a conference while the instructor is hosting one.
Camille, per the Canvas Course Role Permissions PDF, the default permission for the student role is that students are not able to create conferences. I just tested this by creating a conference as an instructor and inviting students to the conference. I then logged in to the course as a student (not using Student View, but as an actual "fake student") and, as the student, I was able to join the conference, but had no way to create one.
Could you provide additional details on how this is occurring?
Camille, following up here: have you been able to find out how students are able to create conferences in a course?
I apologize for my delay in getting back to you. An instructor in the University that I work for was concerned that students would be able to create conferences instead of joining them. I will pass this information along. Thank you for the clarification.
You're welcome, Camille! Given the existing student permissions, we've marked this idea for archival, and if this should occur to instructors at any point, please ask them to submit a support ticket.
