The student Grades page is heavily quantitative. At a glance, it can be hard to see the difference between a score of 5 points out of 5 and a score of 5 points out of 10.
I'd like to see a feature allowing students a more qualitative view of their grades. The color coding in the learning mastery grade book is one example of such a view. The donut chart in the attendance tool is another.
A partial solution to this problem is for instructors to publish letter grades rather than point totals. This is unlikely to be widely adopted on our campus, particularly since the Canvas grading scheme is not currently aligned with campus policy. Also, assignment group totals do not display as letter grades.
