    The ability to have a direct, instant messaging system within Canvas is not only safer for students by giving out phone numbers, but it also helps students connect, interact, and use Canvas more often. As the process stands right now, students much search for outside contact for projects and team work. This contact is often made via Facebook, text messaging, GroupMe, or even Snapchat. By including a direct, live chat system for both canvas desktop and mobile, students will be able to communicate instantly and efficiently without giving out personal information.
