I work for Educational Technology Support at the University of British Columbia and I support instructors with learning technologies such as Canvas. One instructor I was working with selected 'Restrict Upload File Types' and in the text box below the file types need to be separated with a comma (pdf,doc,xls) but the instructor separated them with a period by accident (pdf.doc.xls). However, there was no error message and the instructor was able to save the settings. As a result, no file type was accepted and students could not submit their work. An error message should be implemented that prevents instructors from saving an assignment with this error.
