I would like to be able to give students under thirteen access to the LMS. Currently I am creating dummy email accounts to add them to the LMS so that students can then communicate within the LMS.
Hello, Susan Lewis (and a slightly belated) Welcome to the Canvas Community! We've put this idea into Moderating status temporarily. Is this a request that would allow instructors to enroll students who do not have email addresses in Canvas courses, which you're currently handling by creating dummy email accounts for them? Or is it a request to prevent enrolled students from communicating with one another in Canvas? If the latter, this is already possible—please refer to How do I set permissions for a course-level role in an account?—and your school's Canvas admin can facilitate that for you.
Please let us know. Thanks!
Thanks for your response. I need to enroll students who do not have an email account. My students are under 13 years of age. I can create dummy email accounts but I won't be able to TRULY communicate with them asynchronously.
Susan, we've opened the idea for voting, and suggest you check with your Canvas admin(s) to see if they can facilitate this for you.
...and I see you've asked the Canvas Community for help with the first question here Adding students who are too young for an email address so perhaps some of our members will be able to provide a solution for that aspect of your idea.
