It would be great if we were able to increase the size of the editing window for pages in the Rich Content Editor. I can increase it vertically, but not horizontally. See below for a picture of what I mean.
Hello, Regina Vrikkis Welcome to the Canvas Community! I notice that your screenshot does not include the Content Selector sidebar that typically appears at the right side of the screen when in edit mode. That sidebar is maintaining its place, so to speak, when someone uses the drag handle at the lower right of the RCE. However, instead of using the drag handle, try expanding the window itself, as that will allow the sidebar to maintain its place and expand the text editor window, like so:
(before expanding the window width)
(after expanding the window width)
The second screenshot is accommodating more of the same text, because I've enlarged the window.
Perhaps this remedy will work for you?
Thank you so much for your reply. I know that increasing the window size will, by default, increase the size of the rich content editor window, but it would be nice if I could increase it a bit more - When I work on a larger (i.e. wider) monitor, there is a limit on how large that rich content editor window gets (see red arrows around the picture for the amount of wasted white space).
I can certainly work with what I have, it's just one of those, 'wouldn't it be nice' kinds of things to be able to drag the window horizontally, and either have the right hand side menu go to the bottom or move out of the visible area.
Overall I really like Canvas, and have found it very intuitive. (Canvas folks probably only hear from users when something does not work:) )
Thanks for the response and the kind words, Regina—and we really do want to hear from everybody! (Yes, really! )
