For small classes, the grade distribution graphs present a significant risk to student privacy by revealing the low grade and allowing an easily implemented process of elimination to reveal too much. Enabling administrators to make the "Hide grade distribution graphs from students" option as enabled by default for all sections will eliminate this risk to instructors who never see what information Canvas is giving students regarding grade distributions. At a minimum, if the number of students enrolled is small (<10?) this option should be enabled.
Few instructors are aware of the plot availability since it is not visible in student view for Test Student. For graduate courses with very small enrollments, all may be revealed without instructor awareness.
