Communal blog function (emulating Facebook groups)

Given that we are now all moving to remote delivery of courses, a communal blog function, like Facebook groups, would assist in creating and maintaining a sense of community among students and staff, as well as the sharing of ideas. I know the Discussion board does this, but it is not very visually engaging - you actually have to click on the post in order to view any visual content. Maybe that's not such a big deal in some disciplines, but I teach in the visual arts and visuals are critical to student engagement with content. (True for me as well). Students are also much more likely to engage with each other online if there is immediately accessible visual content. I really want them to post, and see each other's, works in progress, in order to emulate the shared art studio experience.
