Admin reports - csv activity

(1)

Currently,  a lot of pressure is placed on domain admins for information concerning students' complete access to online classes when there are Financial Aid disputes. However, when we access the Profile page for a student and run the Page Views csv report, it only logs back for the last 30+ times the student accesses the class. If this tool could instead store the data based on the admin term dates, it would be of more value.

Can we request that the Profile, Page View csv report parameters are set to correspond to the Admin Term dates?

Thanks,

Hi Jacqueline,

I receive a lot of requests for such verification also, from both faculty and Registration.  What I do is scroll down to display all of the required date range, and then simply copy/paste into an email (or spreadsheet). In this way, I can go back indefinitely, even beyond the current quarter. This may be a work-around, but it has always worked well for me.

P.S. I voted this up!   ;>)

I hope this is helpful!

Sincerely,

Hi  @jstaley

We do the same as 925024864 and it works just fine! Just shows-to-goya, there is more than one way to skin a cat, although why anyone would want to that is beyond me.

To do this... Go to ‘Page Views’, scroll down through the historical access data in page views until you have exposed all desired dates… you can go back as far as you want, and then copy all data from the desired dates/range that you need and paste into a document, email, or spreadsheet.

Sorry I didn't include this clarification in my first post.    ;>)

We have decided that page views are not enough of an indication that the student actually attended the class.   Instead, we are having faculty determine when the last meaningful submission by the student took place.   Obviously, not all courses lend themselves to this because they may not have many submissions.   This is a work in progress for us.

Hi David Willmore, we rely heavily on the student 'Access Report' and the 'Times Participated' column in that report, as well as the 'Participated' column in the 'Page Views'. Both of these track any and all interactions in the course, such as 'submissions', 'posts', 'replies', and any 'submit' action.

That is awesome!  Do you weight the different types of information gathered to provide an overview of attendance? Said another way, what do you give to financial aid after mining the data?

To quote a famous catch phrase from an old TV show (Dragnet), "just the facts ma'am"... only the data presented, and if needed, an explanation of the report(s) and what the different categories mean. By presenting ONLY the facts as presented and supported by the data, without weighting or interpretation, we avoid controversy, debate and problems. Deans, Records/Registration, or Financial Aid then make their decisions based on the facts and data presented.
