Currently, students can only see a minimum, maximum and average value for a particular grade. These grade details are insufficient at accurately assessing performance. Ideally, students should be able to efficiently evaluate their performance at multiple points throughout the semester in order to stay on track. Including additional grade details available to students will prevent inaccurate performance evaluations. Among the proposed changes includes a grade distribution curve for each assignment and grade distribution curve based on all of the weighted grades currently inputted into the grade book. The grade distribution curve will give students a better representation of their performance relative to other students. A cumulative grade distribution will be useful in helping students to see the bigger picture and not focus on one assignment. A better assessment of overall performance, in addition to the grade distribution curves, could be seen through a percentile ranking, such as those supplied in standardized test summaries.
