Currently, for recording student attendance, the Instructor must manually input the attendance via Roll Call. This results in time being taken away from class, especially in classes with large student enrollment. To reduce this time loss, we would like a self check-in functionality incorporated into the Canvas Mobile app. This would allow students to submit or “check in”, confirming that they are present in class.
For example, iClicker Cloud uses GPS technology to confirm students’ locations when they "check-in" to class. Instructors simply set the location and time for their class and let the tool do the rest. Students are reminded to check in when class starts. An attendance report is created automatically.
