how do I get to the discussion board to do the assignment?
Hello there, Brenda Mortensen Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thanks for posting your question. When you are in your Canvas course, along the left hand side of the screen (where things like Home, Syllabus, Annoncements, etc. are listed), you may see a menu option called "Discussions". If you do not see "Discussions", then that means your instructor may have chosen to hide that item from you and your classmates. However, that may also mean that your instructor has chosen to use the "Modules" area of your course to organize where your discussion topics are placed within the course. So, also check "Modules" to see if any discussion topics are listed there. The Canvas Community website (the site you are on right now) has many written Guides and videos on Discussion topics for you as a student, so I'll provide you with a couple links:
Discussion Guides (for students)
I hope this information will be helpful to you, Brenda. Please let us know if you have any additional questions about this. Thanks!
Thank you Chris. I did find the discussions, but now I can't find the quiz, when I click on the desired assignment I get the instructions but no quiz. Is there another place to find quizzes?
Hi Brenda Mortensen...
Since I don't have access to your school's Canvas environment (and most of the other people here in the Community ... over 300,000 of us wouldn't either), so this is a little hard to diagnose. Quizzes typically exist in a menu within your course called "Quizzes". Your instructor may have hidden the "Quizzes" button in your course similar to how the "Discussions" button may have been hidden. If that's the case, then you would want to look again in your "Modules" screen to see if your quizzes are listed there. Quizzes have a little rocket ship icon next to them. Also, your instructor may have an "Assignments" menu. You could also look there because anything graded (which includes some quizzes) are also considered assignments.
Does this help?
Thank you again Chris. I will look again for the rocketship or an assignments icon.
I am not sure if this the discussion to unit 4. But this was an interesting course. It isn't as challenging as unit 3. Hopefully this school year is a blessing for everyone. If anyone wants to contact me my email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a bless and wonderful day.
Hello Lunie elie Welcome (a few days late) to the Canvas Community. I'm not sure if you realized this or not, but you have posted your response to the global Canvas Community website where people from around the world come to ask questions, share ideas, write blogs, check out "how to" Guides, and a whole lot more...all about Canvas. This is not your Canvas course where you, your instructor, and your fellow classmates typically would come to post work, submit assignments, respond to discussion postings, etc. That is all done within your school's Canvas environment. In doing a bit of virtual "digging", I found this web page on your school's website which may be of some help: Engage and Canvas LMS | College Degrees | NJ & NY Degrees | Online - Berkeley College. Also, I would recommend that you reach out to your instructor of the course you are taking in Canvas if you have any questions about how to post replies to the discussion topics he/she has set up for you and your classmates. Here is a Guide on how to contact your instructor: How do I get help with Canvas as a student? Good luck to you!
I found the answer very helpful. I'm just starting out myself, and I also need to know how to access the discussion board for assignments. Thanks for the information.
