I graded a discussion in speedgrader, but it does not show up in the gradebook.
OK so I got an answer. I did not have a due date listed so Canvas didn't know which quarter's gradebook to list it in. It was listed in All Gradebooks, just not in the Quarter 3 gradebook. I added a due date and it showed up in the Quarter 3 gradebook!
Hello there, Karen Finklestein Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thanks for posting your question. Since the majority of Community users cannot get access to your school's Canvas environment or your course, we'll have to make some assumptions here. First, since you said you are grading discussions, we'll assume that the topic(s) you are grading is/are "published"...so that your students have been able to respond to the discussion topic(s). We'll also assumed that you've checked the option in the topic to make them graded...since you said that you graded it via the SpeedGrader. The next thing to check is the name of the discussion topic. Make sure that the topic name you are looking for in your "Discussions" page is exactly the same as in your "Grades" page. Do you many assignments in your gradebook? If so, do you have to scroll left/right to see all the assignment names? Do you remember adjusting the column widths at all of any of the discussion topics...making them smaller than usual? Hopefully, by narrowing down some of these things, you'll be able to find the column that is associated with the discussion topic in your "Grades" page. If not, I would recommend that you reach out to Canvas Support...as they would be the best ones who could help investigate this further. How do I get help with Canvas as an instructor?
Please come back to this topic to provide an update when you find out more. Good luck to you, Karen. Thanks!
I do not see the discussion in my gradebook at all. Here is what I see:
Here is what I see on the discussion:
I also see this when I click edit:
Hi Karen Finklestein...
Thank you for providing the screen shots. I am baffled. I don't see anything in your discussion settings that would prevent the discussion topic from showing in your gradebook. (Just to confirm, however, when you click on the "VocARbulary Cube" name in the Gradebook, are you taken to that assignment...which is *different* than your discussion topic? I ask because both appear to be 100 total points.) This may be one that you'll need to contact the folks at the Canvas Help Desk about...as I'm just not coming up with any other ideas for you at the moment. Sorry...
Yes - it is a totally different assignment and yes I go to that assignment
when I click on it. Thank you for your efforts in trying to help me. I will
contact the Canvas Help desk.
If you could please report back in this thread once you chat with the Canvas Help Desk folks to let us know what the solution was, that would be helpful. Thank you!
One more thing... for your "What is BreakoutEdu..." discussion topic, I assume that you have this topic added to one of your modules on your "Modules" page? If so, can you check to see that both the discussion topic is "published" and also that the module that the topic is located in is also "published"?
Yes to all
Thanks for the update, Karen Finklestein!
