A colleague sent me a zip file tht has a quiz in the form of various "meta" and other xml documents. How do I copy it into Canvas so I can assign same quiz to my students?
Hi Heather Boldt Welcome to the Canvas Community. A .zip file with xml files is a perfect description of what should be a QTI file that is ready to be imported into Canvas. There is an online guide covering how to treat it here: 4152,724198 Be sure, of course, that you did nothing within that file and leave it as a zip file.
That said, depending on where/how the quiz was originally created, it may not work as advertised. I have helped faculty at my own institution with uploading quizzes from publishers that claimed they were Canvas quizzes that refused to import that way. If that should happen, you may want to try importing it as a course or even (in some cases) as a course belonging to a different learning management system, such as Blackboard.
In the event your original file does NOT work, you may want to take a peek at some of these articles:
How do I import content from Blackboard 6/7/8/9 into Canvas?
How do I import content from Common Cartridge into Canvas?
How do I import content from Desire 2 Learn (D2L) into Canvas?
But by all means, try the very first link before doing anything else. I hope this helps, Heather.
