How do I give points for participation in a quiz, not just the correct answer? @
Hello Gerhard Strohmer and welcome to the Canvas Community! There are a couple of ways this could be done. First, you could overwrite the grade they were given either in the SpeedGrader or in the Grades tab directly by typing in the grade you would like each student to have. Second, to save time, you could use the feature in the grade book to set a default grade (see How do I set a default grade for an assignment?). When utilizing this option, you can choose to overwrite existing scores.
There may be other ways as well, but you could try one of these options and see how it fits you needs!
Hello, Gerhard Strohmer and I too would like to Welcome you to the Canvas Community! I wonder if a graded survey would work in this case; students will be awarded full points upon submission. Please check out How do I create a survey in my course?
As I want to give some credit for answering questions correctly and some credit for participating, I have now arrived at the following solution: I just ask one question that has an obvious answer. I chose: 'Are you participating in this quiz?' That should do the trick.
Hi Gerhard Strohmer. I am going through questions that have not been mark as answered to see if updates are appropriate. It looks like you found a solution that will work for you, so am going to go ahead and mark this as "assumed answered". This doesn't prevent discussion in the thread, however, if appropriate.
I hope your term goes well!
