I've created a test course to try Badgr. However, there's no 'test student' in the course, and since I have no student sections added, how can I add test students? Or, for that matter, any student?
We started playing with Badgr not long after InstCon last year and ran into this - test students for badging need to appear to Badgr as real students, not the built-in Canvas Test Student. Out advantage is that we are admins, and just built ourselves some.
Talk to your Canvas Admin/Support department and ask them for 8 or 10 dummy students that either you or they can enroll in your sandbox. You need more than one to really test-drive that Buick. Tell them to keep it simple, and to not waste time on the usual Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse kind. Ours are Test Student1, Test Student2, etc. and their login credentials are student1, student2 etc. for both user name and password. makes it so simple to add them when needed. Also, if you don't have permission to do so, ask for several sandboxes, you will want them; and especially so if your are going to train others.
Ok, so finally, I have one single test student in my test course for Badgr (and other addons or new features). Now the question is, how do I enable Badgr? I see it's an app, but requires a login and a couple of passwords. I'm not, by any means, the admin. So, do I have to request Badgr get installed by my college's Canvas team?
