Is it possible to have a full screen vision in canvas ? how can we set it up?
Hi there, mithridate khatai...
I've got a slightly different response compared to the information you received from Eric Werth this morning. Are you asking about how to remove some of the white space that you might see on the right side of your course? (Meaning, content doesn't fill up the entire screen even with your web browser window fully expanded.) If so, there is a Feature Option that can be turned on at the account level by your local Canvas administrator called "New User Tutorial". Oddly enough, if this is turned on at the course level (which will turn it on for every course in your school's Canvas environment), then the content within your course(s) will stretch out more to the edges of the screen. If you go to this Guide, What feature options are currently available for an entire Canvas account?, scroll down to the section on "New User Tutorial". You'll find a paragraph that states:
This feature removes the maximum width in Canvas, which affects Canvas courses. When enabled, the Dashboard course cards are responsive to the full width of the browser. Depending on a user's browser's resolution, the Dashboard course display more than three course cards in a single row. Additionally, Canvas in other feature areas such as Assignments and Discussions use the full width of the page and minimize white space in the sidebar.
I hope this information will be of help to you.
Hi mithridate khatai. Are you just trying to collapse navigation panels to give yourself as much content space as possible on the screen? There is no way I know of to make the course space take up the entire computer screen, but you can minimize the course navigation panel (see How do I use the Course Navigation Menu as an instructor?; same process would apply for students). This may help, and within content boxes in Canvas you can often click and drag the corner of the box to make this space a little larger, but otherwise I'm not sure there is a way to expand the screen.
If you can provide more information on what type of device you are using and whether or not the information above is helpful, perhaps someone else has faced something similar and has an idea.
I do hope this helps!
Thanks for bringing up this option Chris. I was thinking about changes possible for individual end users and not something at the larger account-level. This is good information!
You can go full screen in the browser. On most computers you can use F11 key to go to full screen or to exit full screen.
