I have three children in schools that use Canvas. How do I separate them out in the Canvas module layout?
Kelly Latinis, Welcome!
I'm so happy to see a parent in the Canvas Community! As a teacher, it excites me when parents are actively involved in their student's or students' learning. The teacher-student-home relationship is an incredibly valuable one!
When you say "module layout" is this the screen view that you experience when you log-in to Canvas? (Lots of colorful course cards!)
Looking forward to hearing from you. I'm happy to help you navigate your observer experience so it works best for you and your family!
Hi Kristin! Thanks for your email and response. I am referring to the screen view. My high school students classes were intertwined with my 8th graders classes. I would love to be able to separate them out by each child. Is this possible? Thanks for your help!
Hi! I have good news and not-so-good news for you.
Let's get the not-so-good news out of the way. Right now, there is not a way for separate students' active courses on the browser's dashboard. There is a fairly good following of an idea that would change this: Parents: toggle view between children. If you have time, I encourage you to add your use-case and story to the discussion. I think that it would be great if this would be implemented someday.
The good news, and probably the most immediate solution, is the Canvas Parent App! Unlike the web browser version of Canvas, the app separates the courses by student, and you can even set custom alerts on a student-by-student basis.
How do I add a student in the Canvas Parent app on my iOS device?
How do I add a student in the Canvas Parent app on my Android device?

Hello there, Kelly Latinis...
I noticed that there hasn't been any new activity in this particular discussion topic since Kristin Lundstrum's last reply on August 18th. Have you had an opportunity to review that feedback? If so, did it help to answer your question? Or, are you still looking for some help with your initial question? If you feel that Kristin's reply has helped to answer your question, please feel free to mark her response as "Correct". However, if you still have question, please post a message below so that members of the Canvas Community might be able to help you out. For now, I'm going to mark your question as "Assumed Answered" since there hasn't been any new activity in this thread for over a month. However, that won't prevent you or others from posting additional questions/comments below related to this thread. I hope that's okay with you, Kelly. Looking forward to hearing back from you!
