my students can't open the pdf I uploaded. when they try it says they don't have permission to access the page. Why?
Hi Nancy Carlin Welcome to the worldwide Canvas community. This is a common issue this time of year, and can be the result of any number of things:
-Is the file PUBLISHED in the FILES area? If so, was there any restriction placed on it? (Details here: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10320-4152314203 among other places.)
-You mention students can't access the page. Has the PAGE been published? If so, if you are using MODULES, has the MODULE that the page is in published? If the page is within an unpublished Module, students will not have access to the page within it. Also, make sure the module does not have various restrictions in place: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10399-4152322085 .)
Finally, I cannot emphasize this enough: use the student view! This will help you see if there is a more specific error message. I often find that when I use the student view for another instructor, it reveals the specific error message, such as it being in a module, etc.
Hope this helps a bit!
