I need to make an adjustment to an assignment in the future, but one student has already submitted her work early. Can she take it back out so I can adjust the assignment prior to the assignment deadline? How?
Hi Sarah - You should still be able to EDIT it. While you will not be able to unpublish it due to the submissions, Canvas does allow you to edit it. I just tried it now on an assignment that had submissions just to be sure. If you modify the points, Canvas warns you that you'll have to re-grade any graded submissions, but that's about it. The only other thing that would be uneditable are group settings if it happened to be a group assignment.
Hi Sarah Carrigan Welcome to the worldwide Canvas Community, where fellow Canvas users hang out, exchange ideas, and can ask questions.
She cannot take it back, and in fact neither can you or even your Canvas administrator. What she CAN do, however, is simply re-submit it. Students can always re-submit an assignment up until the "Until" date on the assignment options. Additional information is here: Can a student resubmit Canvas assignments?
You may want to give your student this information: How do I submit an online assignment? , especially the screen capture at the very end.
I hope this helps, Sarah!
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that leaves me unable to make changes
on the assignment.
