I've copied a course section to transfer to other course sections. I cannot find where it went. How can I find it to transfer it to the other sections?
Hello Wendy La Puma Welcome to the worldwide Canvas Community! I wonder if you could provide a few details of what exactly you did. In Canvas, you typically import FROM another course site while in a newer course or within the course that you wish to import INTO. That is detailed here: How do I copy content from another Canvas course?
However, it IS possible--depending on how things are setup for you--that you can copy from a course while creating a new one at the same time, as covered here: How do I copy a Canvas course into a new course shell? In this case, the material should be in your new course shell. This assumes that your institution allows you to create new shells. (Mine does not.)
And finally, you can EXPORT material from an existed class and have that material wind up in a .zip file. That is covered here: How do I export a Canvas course? If you did that, the .zip file must be downloaded, and was likely downloaded to the same directory that anything else would be downloaded by default in the web browser you were using. (Often a "Downloads" folder on your computer.) You would then import that .zip file into a Canvas course. That is, however, a much longer way of doing things from one Canvas course to another. It's easier to just import from one course to another, as covered in the very first link provided.
I guess the bottom is to check which procedure you used, and to generally check over this entire section of the Canvas Instructor's Guide: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10460#jive_content_id_Course_Import_Tool .
I hope this helps a bit, Wendy!
Amazingly, I did finally figure it out. Thank you for your suggestions.
