<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY><P><SPAN style="color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 13.3333px;">Looking for suggestions on software that students could use to draw math equations on a WACOM tablet or tablet computer and include the equations in the submissions for a math assignment. What would be cool is to have a student click an LTI button in an assignment and open/embed an object in the assignment page that they can edit/draw on with the tablet. Then they'd close that page (or multiple pages) and submit the assignment. We're looking for this for math assignments in departments that teach quantitative topics. Any ideas?</SPAN></P></BODY></HTML>Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:07:10 GMThttps://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/Ability-to-write-out-math-equations-on-a-tablet-and-submit/m-p/93819#M24660lwoodruff2015-11-01T19:07:10ZRe: Ability to write out math equations on a tablet and submit through Canvas?

<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY><P>I see that this post is a few years old. I am new to canvas and I am wondering if anything has changed in the last 2 years since this suggestion was made? I am looking to be able to have my students take their quizzes on a tablet and write all of their work for each question as they go. I am going to look at the apps suggested above, but I am also curious about how canvas adapts and grows with the needs of it's teachers. <HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY><P>I'm conducting a Canvas Open Lab today and a 6th grade math teacher came to me with this challenge. (NOTE: our elementary and middle school students have been assigned iPads). She says students have to solve problems and **show their work**, so even the equation editor isn't helpful really. When they used to use Google classroom, they were able to draw with their fingers or stylus, and submit. (The google integration with the Canvas apps is No Bueno).</P><P></P><P>She can upload a PDF and students can annotate on it and submit in an Assignment.</P><P>But what about Quizzes where students are asked to solve a problem and show their work?</P><P></P><P>mathematics show work</P></BODY></HTML>Thu, 12 Apr 2018 15:54:44 GMThttps://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/Ability-to-write-out-math-equations-on-a-tablet-and-submit/m-p/93825#M24666Hildi_Pardo2018-04-12T15:54:44ZRe: Ability to write out math equations on a tablet and submit through Canvas?

<HTML><HEAD></HEAD><BODY><P>Hildi, I am also wondering about Wacom Tablet integration, so I'll tack my post here. I am grading lots of Biology, Chem, and Physics homework and realistically must find a way to use a stylus directly. Unfortunately, my Wacom tablet doesn't work with speed grader. Other options: 1) Printing from Canvas, hand-grading, re-scanning, and attaching the graded file back into Canvas w/b totally unrealistic. 2) Downloading/saving the homework from Canvas onto my PC, grading with a stylus, re-uploading, and attaching is a little quicker but still too onerous. 3) Students submitting homework via email, printing it out, hand-grading with a red pen, and returning graded paperwork at the next class is even quicker, but negates any advantages with using Canvas in the first place. Is anyone successfully using a Wacom/Bamboo tablet to grade complex homework directly in Canvas? </P></BODY></HTML>Wed, 10 Apr 2019 21:05:12 GMThttps://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Question-Forum/Ability-to-write-out-math-equations-on-a-tablet-and-submit/m-p/93826#M24667kjohanson2019-04-10T21:05:12ZRe: Ability to write out math equations on a tablet and submit through Canvas?

My university uses Canvas and I'm trying to figure out whether I should get an iPad for writing math, including diagrams, more easily.
