Is anyone else having trouble with captioning videos created within Canvas using Amara? I'd prefer to use YouTube to caption, but I don't think there's a way to save the video created with Canvas to upload to YouTube.

Good question cmillion435@email.4cd.edu, I assume you are working to embed the Amara videos into a Canvas page, is that right?
If so, there are instructions on this page:
How to integrate Amara with my website?
Basically, you would need to add this code:
<script type="text/javascript" src='https://amara.org/embedder-iframe'> </script>
Into the Global Javascript for your Canvas site. Instructions for editing that file are at https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10862-4214724282
An alternative would be link link out to play the video on the Amara site.

Thanks for your replychristopher.phillips@usu.edu. I'm actually having trouble with working the syncing tool with Amara and find it a little clunky. It's also not ideal that Amara doesn't employ the "auto-transcribe" feature like YouTube, so all the words need to be typed with line breaks in between. Maybe I'm missing something?
Thanks cmillion435@email.4cd.edu, that makes more sense. That is correct that Amara does not provide a machine transcription/auto-transcribe so you do have to start from scratch with your transcription if you are working on a video that you do not own. If you have the rights to the video you could just do it in YouTube and use their caption editor.
If you are looking for help with the editor I would refer you to their help documents:
