Split Window Options

Our school system has adopted Canvas as a program of choice.  For special needs students trying to use Canvas, is there a way to have split screens available.  The class starts with a ZOOM call, then the teacher tries to go to breakout rooms.  You have to navigate back to Canvas, then open the breakout room (doing so hides the Canvas page as well as ZOOM discussion).  An adult can resize windows and move them to make two visible, a special needs student will struggle at best to get one window open.  Is there a default the school can set to lock the ZOOM window in place and open the breakout room alongside so the teacher can communicate with the student while they attempt to do their work?
