Replies sent from a phone?

I did some research, and I now understand that instructor replies to student messages are stored on the Student's inbox, rather than the Instructor's sent items. (I know they are "conversations," but this is endlessly confusing to both our faculty and students.)

However, where does an instructor reply to a student's message end up when the instructor replies from his email client on his phone?  (Not using the Canvas app.)

I've been searching and searching, and cannot find an instructor's replies to a student's message anywhere; not in the students messages, not in the instructor's messages.

Are there any particular places I should look? And are there any particular notification preferences that should be set for replies from a phone email client?

 @lstickdo , I just double-checked this by replying to a message from my phone (not through the Canvas app, but the Outlook client on my phone) and it does not show up in the Sent messages. Instead if I look for the original message in the Inbox I can see my reply in the conversation/message stream. So my initial advice is to search the Inbox by course for the initial message.

Also, as a side-note, and I'm not sure if it applies here or not, but we've found that if you masquerade as someone you don't always see exactly what they see in the Inbox. We actually had this verified by Canvas Support, who told us the only way to know you're seeing exactly what they are seeing is to create an alternate login for the person and literally log in as them.

I have been investigating an odd issue involving a student replying to an instructor's message from her phone, and the messages (a) are not showing in the instructor's inbox (but they do show in the student's inbox) and (b) are not showing in the instructor's notifications, when I use Admin Tools to see what notifications the teacher received. I'm wondering if there is some odd loophole regarding replies from phones...

I don't know if Lisa ever got an answer, but if her issue was the same as mine, it turned out to be exactly as I thought - if you reply to a text notification, it goes nowhere.
