student submission comes up blank

A teacher has the students download the assignment (word doc), then students type in it, then students upload it. All the other students' (in same class and other classes) assignments work except for one kid. The kid's work shows up as he submitted it, but it comes in as blank on teacher's side. This kid also does the same thing for the other classes and it works fine for other teachers but this particular teacher.

How can I help the teacher to get the student's work to appear.

The latest assignment has been a word doc on googledoc that was downloaded, worked on google, and then uploaded from googledoc.

@kocampo1  did you ever find a solution to this? I had a teacher report this to me recently. Same workflow: word doc shared through Google Doc, then uploaded via Google Drive. The teacher had text boxes in her doc and several student's submissions are coming through with blank responses in those boxes. they've shared screenshots showing completed work. It's a higher level course, we don't think most students are omitting those answers.

Students need to make a copy of the doc in their own google drive: one thought is they're creating multiple copies of the task and submitting an incomplete version.
