I have an automatic deduction set up for late work: -10% per day not to exceed 50%. However, our administration has now decided that we cannot subtract more than 10% at any time for late work. I can't apply the new policy to work from 1st quarter because our synched gradebook is closed. Is there a way to change the automatic late deduction from this point forward?

I'm sorry, but this is actually incorrect. In addition to the warning message, I tested it out, and it does change all past grades. I'm also not able to remove the "per day" part for a flat 10% automatic deduction, so I'm going to have to manually change the grade each time a student turns in late work.
Thank you for replying. I just don't want to leave misinformation out there for others to see.
I'm fairly certain that the Late policy only affects grades from here forward, not retroactively. So changing the policy now should do what you want wanting; only affecting newly turned in assignments.

@MsButterfield Thank you for following up and I apologize for being wrong. I should have actually checked things out rather than stating how I thought it would work.

It doesn't seem to remove the effects of the late policy when you turn off the late policy even though it states, "Changing the late policy will affect previously graded submissions."
