I am an instructor trying to export a Canvas course for use at a different university. I followed the instructions for exporting the course. As it is a very large course, I was expecting it to take awhile and to end up with the ZIP file everyone mentions.
However, the export was completed in seconds and the result was a 54KB imscc file. This cannot possibly contain all of the course content.
I tried exporting multiple times and keep getting this same small file.
How can I get the entire course to actually export, besides the steps shown in the Canvas guide that are clearly not working?

Hi @CAF,
Could you tell us more details about the contents of the course?
I'm wondering if perhaps the course is built through a lot of 3rd party integrated content. If that's the case, the export file would have the link information to put back if re-imported to a new Canvas course, but since the content comes from a 3rd party, it wouldn't be included itself in the zip. This is a just a guess, since I've never seen an issue with the export tool in my almost 9 years as a Canvas admin for my university.
