[ARCHIVED] Creating Hyperlink on Page for Canvas Message (not email) to Instructor

Looking to add a hyperlink link onto a Canvas Page that will open a canvas message to me as an instructor rather than opening the email client using "mailto:myemail@schoo.org"

I'm guessing this means an edit on the HTML side of things, but not sure how to go about it.

(I found a solution for this question that was posted in Sept 2017, but the solution used then doesn't seem to still hold up from what I can tell.)

Hello there, @mgamage ...

I'm not entirely sure this is possible (maybe it is, but not any way I know of via the current Canvas interface front-end).  Would you be opposed to just having your students use the "Ask Your Instructor a Question" link in the global navigation "Help" menu?  How do I get help with Canvas as a student?  This way, students can use the built-in communication tools to contact you rather than you trying to set up a separate way to contact you.  Just a thought I'd pass along.
