On a "File Upload" submission type, when students select "Google Drive LTI 1.3", we are now seeing a message that there is a file size limit of 10 MB.
This is problematic for teachers that are using Google Slides as digital notebooks with images and videos.
Is this size limit a new addition? I have never seen this message before yesterday, and I can't find any mention of it in the documentation.

@MrReed
I checked our documentation to see if we were made aware of any changes to the file upload size limits from Google, and didn't see anything. At this point, you would want to reach out to Google Support directly for clarification on this apparent change, as they manage this LTI!

I'm also having this issue of size limitation set at 10mb. And I don't see any documentation on Google side on this either. What's the best way of rectifying this? Thanks
The best workaround that we have found at this moment:
Students can open the Google file & select "File > Download > PDF Document." Then, they are allowed to upload that resulting PDF to Canvas.
Submitting using the "Google Drive LTI 1.3" tab converts the file to PDF anyway, so the end result is the same. Just more steps for the students 😞
The solution posted is a workaround, and as stated is less than ideal. Has there been any movement or update for this problem?
@wegley_k ...
Full disclosure, I don't use the Google Drive LTI 1.3 integration. However, I would think that if you are storing files on Google's servers, this would be a Google issue rather than a Canvas issue. My $0.02 ... for what it's worth.
Here is what my Google Admin sent me. It looks like if you choose to have the assignment pass through Speedgrader then you get the file size limit. So I guess the work around would be to have teachers choose the Google Assignments option and skip Speedgrader. Of course another workaround would be just to have students submit the link and bypass the LTI all together.
While not selected the Canvas Speedgrader option in Google Assignments is an option, the limitation remains if they are using a regular Canvas assignment and selecting File Upload and adding a file from Google Drive that exceeds 10 MB.
I use speed grader, and can't understand why it works for most of my students, but there are 1-2 students where they get the error message, while using the same template as everyone else, so it makes no sense why they get that error, but the others don't. This is on a two-page google slide assignment. We should not be getting that error.
