Hi all -
I receive the following error when trying to create a .tde file in Tableau of the requests table:
[Amazon][RedShift ODBC] (30) Error occurred while trying to execute a query: ERROR: exceeded the maximum size allowed for the total set of cursor data: 16000MB
I'm curious if anyone else has received this message, and whether the fix is through Tableau, ODBC driver settings, Redshift, Canvas...
Thanks!
It sounds like a Tableau issue. They have some more info on setting up an ODBC connection here: Customizing and Tuning ODBC Connections | Tableau Software
Right - so it looks like there might be a workaround through tweaking the ODBC connection, and maybe pre-filtering the data being pulled into Tableau from Canvas. Or not even using the Tableau connection to Redshift, and instead pulling the data into SQL Server (or another database), then pulling the data into Tableau, thus avoiding the Tableau-Redshift trouble. But, it also seems like there could be a fix on the Redshift side by changing the node type to better align with cursor constraints? After swapping messages with Instructure support, it doesn't sound like that is going to happen anytime soon. But good to know there are workarounds.
