EBS Tracker functionality in Canvas

Hi Canvas Fam!

Yet another random question.  EBS Tracker has the ability for you to make notes on individual student's circumstances (none-safeguarding related) and tie them to the student accounts.  This can then easily be accessed by the staff who need it when they need it (student services etc.) just by clicking the students name. 

What could be used in canvas to achieve the same function?

This would require an external program to integrate it within Canvas. It could be an external tool (LTI) application, but you would need to host the information somewhere outside of Canvas.

Canvas does have a notes column in the gradebook, but that is limited to teachers of the course.

Canvas does provide the ability to store custom data for each user. However, this is viewable (and removable) by the user through the API, so I don't think that's the best thing to use for what you're describing.

We also use Dropout Detective from AspireEdu and it has the ability to share notes.
