Can't delete or publish courses as Teacher or Account Admim

Under Permissions->Course Roles, I have given the Teacher role the permission to Manage Courses (including add/edit/delete courses).

Under Permissions->Account Roles, the Admin Account has permission to do the same (as is default).

Under Settings, under Who Can Create New Courses, I have checked Teachers.

Now, any user designated as teacher can manually create a course, but they don't have the ability to publish the course or to delete the course.

The same goes for me, as an Admin Account. I can't delete courses, or publish them.

How can I fix this?

Did you grant the roles the "Course State - manage" permission?  That's the one that controls publish and delete (separately from the courses add/edit/delete).

Referring to the Canvas Permissions guide, you seem to be correct. However, I don't see "Course State - manage" under either "Permissions -> Course Roles" or "Permissions -> Account Roles". How could this be?

I am account number 1, with all other permissions granted.

Hi @AbdullahKhalid 

Are you the main admin for your institution?  For security (escalation of privilege) reasons, I know admins with custom roles cannot always see/change permissions which their own account role does not have permission for.  For example, if you're a "junior admin" in the root account, but the junior admin role doesn't have the "Course State - manage" permission enabled, you may not see that permission listed on the permissions page.  If you are the main admin with a full admin account, I'd recommend contacting your CSM, since you should definitely see the permission in that case.

Hi Chris,

I was indeed the main admin for the institution. It turned out to be a faulty install. We started with a fresh database, and everything seems to be working as intended now.
